If there is a structural deformity on the transparent layer of the cornea situated at the front part of the eye, the images of both the distant and near objects cannot fully focused on the retina. Visional blur and deformation occurs. It may be detected alone as well as with myopia or hyperopia. Astigmatism is corrected with "Cylindrical" lenses. These lenses bring one of the line on the same plane without changing the location of the other line. As the beams which are perpendicular to the axis of the cylindrical lens are broken, the parallel beams aren't broken. So astigmatism is corrected. People with astigmatism see distant and/or near blurred or shady. The Image is never clear and sharp. The glasses used for treatment of the astigmatism make dizziness on the fist few days and make people feel the surface they walk such as a sence of slipping. These discomforts are temporary.
